Skincare Q&A

Here is part two of the Beauty question & answer! Give it a read and make sure to check out the original’s by Jessica and Jacqui!

How would you describe your skincare routine?
I would call it more of a ritual than a routine which is funny because this never used to be the case. I was such a LAZY skincare person before and I think thats because I never had products that I loved or that really worked for my skin. Like I said in my Make-Up Q&A that I have struggled with Rosacea for a while and it was very hard for me to find products that worked for my skin. I searched and searched trying everything and anything people would recommend which led me to what I’m using now. I find that it works so well for me that I look forward to washing my face which is something I used to dread. I still do wish that it was an easy one step process, but it isn’t! I use a total of 5 skincare products morning and night! So yeah…ritual.

What is your favourite brand?
My holy grail is a brand called iS Clinical. This is more of a medical/high end brand but it works wonders for my skin and trust me I’ve tried everything. I use their Cleansing Complex, Pro-Health Serum Advance +, Reparative Moisture Emulsion, Poly-Vitamin Serum, and Sheald Recovery Balm. Some of these products are just for daytime and some are for night. The two night time products I feel really help my skin the most, I notice such a difference when I wake up which is why I’m so religious about my skincare and literally feel like I can’t live without any of these 5 products.

Having a pamper evening, what does this consist of?
This is one of my all time favourite things to do (gosh, how old do I sound) This usually consists of a bath! Bath bombs or oils FOR SURE. My favourite candle, a face mask that I’m loving at the time, a big glass of wine or champagne and either the book I’m currently reading or a T.V. show I’m obsessed with! I’m a sucker for face masks and love trying out new ones (who doesn’t) so that is always a must and I sometimes do a hair mask if I’m washing my hair afterwards. I find reading more relaxing than a T.V. show but sometimes I’m just so hooked on one that I can’t help it, and any pamper night wouldn’t be complete without a glass of something bubbly.

What brand have you always wanted to try, but haven’t?
I’m not sure about this one. I am so in love with my skincare right now that I wouldn’t really want to try anything new. I also have the problem with the fact that a lot of popular brands aren’t good for my skin because of my rosacea and how sensitive it is which sucks. This skincare line is working well for me so I know from experience that if it’s working than just stick to it!

If you could work with any brand, which one would it be?
Does Lush count? That is a brand I do experiment with especially with face masks, shower gels and lotions etc. I still have to be careful with what I put on my body because it does effect the rosacea on my face and lush is great because they don’t use anything too harsh in their products and I find their stuff not to flare up my skin! The whole Lush brand is just awesome in general and I think it would be AWESOME to work with them.

What do you think is the most important skincare product?
I used to work at a salon & spa for 8 years and the aestheticians that work there told me that serum is 100% the most important product for your skin. I’m not sure if this is for everyone, and maybe it depends on the person but the serum is the most important step in my regimen! If I miss this step, I can tell. There are a few other things I think are also important when it comes to skincare that might not necessarily be products. I think the best thing you can do for your skin, especially if you wear makeup is to wash your face. I learned that very quick and it makes a big difference when you don’t go to sleep with your make up on. Drink lots of water, keeping your skin hydrated is so important and you will see a difference especially if you’re not a good water drinker like me! Be mindful of what you put in your body! Skincare is 50% products and 50% what you eat, and lastly use the products that work for you!

I’m new to your blog, and really liked reading this! I completely agree on the importance of serum. I never used to use it but ever since I started, I have noticed such a marked improvement in my skin. I can’t believe what a difference it has made in such a short span of time!

And yes, going to bed with makeup on is a big NO! No matter how sleepy/tired I am, that’s one step that I never miss.
